New Moon in Sagittarius

The New Moon in Sagittarius occurs when the Sun is in the Sign of Sagittarius for the whole month, which happens to be Christmas season!

Regardless of your spiritual beliefs, Christmastime is typically a time of optimism, forgiveness, socializing, travel, giving+++, and celebration. Indeed, no other Zodiac Sign enjoys such strong collective participation in its best qualities!

A Bit of Sagittarius Mythology

Sagittarius is represented by a centaur pulling a bow and arrow – but not just any centaur! The Sagittarius archetype is Chiron, the wise, sophisticated, intelligent, and gifted healer.

As a centaur, Chiron sets himself above the rest by being more man than animal (whereas most centaurs succumb to their primal instincts), and a talented one at that.

Chiron is also known as “the wounded healer”, having sustained an accidental injury from Hercules, which would have killed him had he not been immortal. Instead, he was doomed to spend the rest of his life suffering the pains of his injury, so while he was able to continue imparting his knowledge and bring healing to others, he was never able to heal himself.

On a lighter note, I personally have another male figure who serves as the perfect archetype to represent the energy of Sagittarius Season – keep reading to learn who!

Sagittarius, like Santa Claus (hint, hint!), brings with it many gifts: bravery, intelligence, honesty, and good fortune being just a few. Allow this New Moon to to spur you forward and light your way on this last month of the calendar year. The following themes will guide you.

Your Radical Ideas

Consider this: Since the beginning of time, humans have had the same problems; what’s changed is our perspective and our approach to dealing with them.

Sagittarius is the sign of forward-thinking, risk-taking, and modernity. Chiron was both wise and intellectual, and neither neglected the past nor the future.

Every new idea seems radical at first. Sagittarius and its ruling planet Jupiter can give you the mental fortitude to withstand the naysayers and to draw fortune for your new venture.

This New Moon can help you apply time-tested wisdom to new ideas and ways of being. You know how they say that you can always start again? Well, this is the New Moon to do just that!

Abundance All Around

No matter what state you’re in, you’re rich in something good. Tap into the abundant energy of Jupiter and make a list of all of the things that you’re grateful for, focusing on things that make you feel rich, fulfilled, and overflowing with resources.

After journaling, sit in meditation with the intention of really feeling the sensation of gratitude and abundance. From this state, you’ll be able to draw more of whatever you wish into your life. Happy manifesting!

Giving & Receiving

My personal archetype for Sagittarius is none other than Santa Claus! And, why not? He’s an ancient, wise, world-traveling, generous and jolly man. Typical Sag 😉 Channel your inner Sag and give generously while also allowing yourself to receive graciously.

Gift giving doesn’t have to be stressful – in fact, it can be a beautifully intentional activity, especially if you focus on buying from local businesses or even crafting your own gifts (assuming you’re good at what you do!).

And remember that giving is also for the giver – make sure that you give others the benefit of giving to you. Sure, you may not “need” anything for Christmas, but that’s not the point! If someone wants to express their love for you by way of gift-giving, why block that channel? Love comes in many forms, and gift-giving is a very popular love language. Enjoy it!

In the spirit of Sag, I’m going to close this article the non-PC way…

Merry Christmas!
