This is the fifth post in the Moon Energy Series.
The Moon is waning between the Full Moon and the New (or Dark) Moon. When you see it in the sky, the curve is on the left side, like a letter “C”.
There are three types of Waning Moons:
Waning Gibbous – The shape of the moon is starting to decrease on the right side
Half Moon (Last Quarter) – Looks like an inverted capital letter “D”
Waning Crescent – Looks like a letter “C”
The Waning Moon is a time of decrease and conclusions. It’s also a time for manifestation, particularly of any intentions that may have been set between the Waxing and Full Moon period.
Waning Moon energy is great to harness if there are areas in your life that you want to eliminate, or move further away from. It’s the perfect time to work toward bringing something to an end, so that you can move on to a new beginning. Waning Moon energy is great for empowering intentions such as:
- Kicking a bad habit
- Decreasing debt
- Ending a relationship
- Bringing a project to a conclusion
- Introspection and taking time for yourself
- Cleansing a space of negative energy
- Releasing negativity
- Letting go of your current way of being, and opening up to new possibilities
The Moon is in her waning phase for about 2 weeks, giving you plenty of time to work with this wonderfully cleansing energy.
Remember, you don’t have to wait for the Waxing or Full Moon to attract things into your life; the waning moon doesn’t automatically repel things, it just makes it easier for you to release things when you set your intention to do so.
So, for example, instead of focusing on attracting more money (which would be perfect for a Waxing Moon), you could focus on releasing the things that you don’t need, as well as the urge to purchase more of what you don’t really need. In this particular example, you will actually attract more financial abundance by getting rid of your junk – whether that’s literal junk, like stuff, or energetic junk, in the form of unhealthy thoughts.
The Waning Moon is the time of closure, of coming full circle. This is indeed a very powerful time, and a wonderful reminder that a New Moon and a new cycle is always just around the corner.
