Gemini (May 21 – June 20)

Welcome to Gemini, the last sign of Spring!

Gemini is an Air Sign, and all around you, people are feeling Spring in the air . . . literally! Whether or not you suffer from seasonal allergies (pollen, anyone?), I bet you know a few people that do.

All this sneezing, wheezing, and coughing from the onslaught of the elements points to the body part ruled by Gemini – the lungs! Isn’t fascinating to see how cosmic energy is mirrored on the Earth? ?

Aside from the lungs and chest, Gemini also rules the arms (including the hands) and Central Nervous System (CNS) – just like the Heart Chakra, actually!

If, like me, you’ve been outside in the garden, getting your hands dirty, and feeling the soreness in your shoulders and wrists as a result, then you would do well to focus on keeping your Gemini body parts happy.

Regular stretching of your upper body after a good gardening sesh will help, as will making sure that you’re wearing gloves and using the right tools. This goes for any manual activity, of course!

As an Air Sign that rules the CNS, the Season of Gemini also asks us to pay special attention to our mental health. Gemini people are excellent communicators, multitaskers, and sharp thinkers.

Geminis tend to perform very well in tests and typically score higher than the average bear. However, their mental agility also makes them prone to bouts of anxiety, analysis paralysis, and even depression.

If you have Planets in Gemini in your natal chart, pay special attention to your mental wellness. The Gemini mind is a gift, when cultivated with care!

Yoga & Fitness for Gemini Season

Yoga asanas where your hands serve as a base and build strength in your upper body are great for tapping into the Gemini body: Upward Facing Dog, Downward Facing Dog, Bird-Dog, Cat/Cow, 3-Legged Dog, Wild Thing.

Yin Yoga options include: Seal, Broken Wing, and Thread the Needle. Yin also has the added benefit of being meditative, which will help to soothe an overactive mind.

Oh, and don’t forget “wrist yoga” – it’s worth the Google ?

From a body sculpting perspective, we’re looking at building muscle mass and flexibility in the biceps, triceps, and shoulders. You might want to “interrupt” your regular schedule with a few weeks of “heavy”, staying within the 6-8 rep max.

Crystals for Gemini Season

This is an awesome time to hone your communication skills, and to let your creative side run wild! Bright blue stones like Turquoise, Aquamarine, Amazonite, Blue Celestite, and Blue Lace Agate will help to clear and balance your Throat Chakra, and support your Gemini pursuits.

Too much Gemini energy? Calm your mind and ground yourself with stones like Smoky Quartz, Jet, Black Tourmaline, Amethyst, and Selenite.

Essential Oils for Gemini Season

. . . Or, Essential Oils for Allergy Season, amiright? To help you breathe easily, make a diffuser or inhaler blend with any or all of the following oils:

  • Frankincense
  • Peppermint
  • Orange
  • Balsam Fir

You can also add Eucalyptus if making a blend for older children/adults, but if you want to stay safe, I recommend Cedarwood as a kid-safe alternative for clearing the lungs. Click here to learn more about shopping for essential oils.

Flower Essences for Gemini Season

The flower of the month is Clematis, which is a Bach Flower Remedy ideal for people whose minds tend to be divided between the past and the future, causing them to feel ungrounded in the present. This is a perfect flower remedy for the highly analytical Gemini mind! Clematis will help to keep you in the Now so that you can enjoy the life you’re living.

Clematis is also an ingredient in Dr. Bach’s Original Rescue Remedy, which is renowned for its ability to ease anxiety, panic, and fear. If you don’t already have it, I recommend having a bottle of Rescue Remedy as part of your holistic home first aid kit! Rescue Remedy is safe for all ages, stages, and even animals, and also comes in different forms (such as pastilles).

Herbs for Gemini Season

The herbal ally calling out to me this season is Peppermint. As an essential oil, it was included in my Gemini essential oil list, particularly for helping to ease any respiratory issues that might arise. As an herb, however, Peppermint can be taken as a tea, which is both energetically stimulating and soothing to the stomach. The aroma of Peppermint, whether through its oil, dried leaves, or fresh leaves, is mentally stimulating and refreshing – just like Gemini!

You can also plant Peppermint in your garden to help keep pests away! Although I would be remiss if I didn’t mention how easily mint plants spread, so if you don’t want it to take over your garden bed, you might consider planting it in a pot to keep it contained.

Enjoy the beautiful Gemini Season! Honestly, the best way to tap into Gemini wellness this time of year is to GET OUTSIDE and spend time in nature. Forest bathing, gardening – all of these types of activities will oxygenate your body like nothing else, and will do wonders for clearing and calming your mind.
