Wellness Tips for Pisces Season: Yoga, Crystals & Essential Oils by Timmie Horvath Policarpio Wanechko Certified Aromatherapist Aromatherapy Essential Oils Edmonton Reiki Training Crystal Healing

Pisces Season (February 20 – March 20)

Welcome to Pisces Season, the last Sign of the Zodiac, and the end of the astrological year. Pisces is a Mutable Water Sign, and rules some pretty significant aspects of our health and wellness. From our brains, to our immune systems, to our feet, Pisces has a hand (foot?) in it. So, without further ado, let’s dive in!

First things first: Pisces rules our immune and lymphatic systems, which facilitates our ability to ward off and fight disease, and rid our body of toxins, respectively. This usually means that Pisces people have strong immune and lymphatic systems, and are generally very healthy people 🙂 But remember, even healthy people get sick – it’s all part of being human!

During this time of year, you may find yourself fighting off a cold, or surrounded by people who are doing the same. This may sound obvious, but the wise old Pisces in me insists on saying it anyway: Wash your hands after using the washroom, before eating, and don’t touch your eyes, nose, or mouth. Also, cough into your elbow, and make sure you’re drinking lots (and lots!) of water.

Pisces, being ruled by both Neptune (and Jupiter!), rules psychic development, intuition, imagination, and our dreams. How this translates to health and wellness is that Pisces is also the domain of psychiatric disorders, mental health, and the propensity towards escapism (drinking, drugs, and other addictive behaviours).

Bearing this in mind, take care of your mind and your heart by doing things that you enjoy and spending time with people you love. Meditate, practice mindfulness, and reach out to others for support. Of course, if you’re currently taking antidepressants or any kind of medication for your brain, then please continue to do so as prescribed.

In terms of body parts, Pisces rules the feet and toes. Issues common to Pisces people include athlete’s foot, restless leg syndrome (RLS), corns, and callouses – this is also because Pisces people love to move their feet, and as a result, their feet tend to work extra hard!

Ruled by the Element of Water, Pisces people also have to be mindful of water retention and poor circulation. Again, keeping well hydrated is key. This is also the perfect time to ask your Massage Therapist for a foot massage or reflexology treatment!

Yoga & Fitness for Pisces Season

Pisces energy is primarily Yin, and has a deep need to draw inwards. Yin Yoga, Restorative Yoga, and poses that soothe the nervous system are a great focus during this month. You may enjoy:

  • Child’s Pose
  • Reclined Bound Angle
  • Legs Up the Wall
  • Lying twist
  • Knees-to-chest Pose

All of that calming Yoga will be especially useful because Pisces people love to be on their feet! Ideal activities include:

  • Zumba
  • Dance cardio
  • Barre fitness
  • Step aerobics
  • Any kind of dance!

Of course, being a Water Sign, Pisces Season is a great time to do water activities, including lane swimming and aqua fitness!

Crystals for Pisces Season

To tap into the intuitive, watery, Yin energy of Pisces, keep the following crystal babies close:

  • Selenite
  • Moonstone
  • Aquamarine
  • Celestite
  • Angelite

To balance the energy of Pisces, you’ll want to work with crystals that resonate strongly with the Root Chakra, such as:

  • Garnet
  • Ruby
  • Red Jasper
  • Petrified Wood
  • Smoky Quartz

Essential Oils for Pisces Season

To boost your immune system, diffuse Frankincense, an all-around healer that’s both powerful and safe enough for the whole family. My favourite way to use Frankincense is in a steam inhalation: Take a bowl of hot/boiling water and place ONE DROP of Frankincense essential oil in it. Cover your head with a towel and breath deeply into the soothing vapours.

Lemon essential oil when applied topically can help to boost your circulation and support your lymphatic system. You can make a body oil by mixing 1 drop of Lemon essential oil with about 1 Tbsp of carrier oil (I love grapeseed oil for this purpose), and rub on your neck, chest, and belly area.

Lemon essential oil is also a powerful de-greaser and germicide, so include it in your natural cleaning concoctions! It also helps to cleanse and freshen the air when diffused, and can add a nice pep to your step.

Finally, to calm and ground a spacey Pisces, Lavender is your best friend. Diffuse Lavender while meditating or while you’re getting ready for bed (never diffuse essential oils overnight while you sleep). Add it to your natural beauty concoctions to help keep your skin clear and to soothe inflammation.

Note: Unless you’re trying to dry out a pimple or a wart, always mix Lavender with a carrier oil when applying to your skin. Yes, Lavender is relatively gentle and is great for your skin, but when applied on its own, it will only dehydrate your skin making you look . . . not younger.

This was a long post, so thank you for reading this far! Last Sign of the year, we’re going out with a bang! See you soon for Wellness in Aries 🙂
