Sagittarius Season (November 22 – December 21)

Sagittarius Season always falls during the busiest time of the year, and 2020 has been a year like no other. No matter what your circumstances are, I hope you find some time to consider the things you’re grateful for. I know this year has been tougher on some more than others, and if this is the case for you, please be gentle with yourself. Know that the only person you have to keep pace with is yourself, and you have the right to set and reset your pace every day. I hope you enjoy this month’s edition of Astro Wellness, and you find something in it to bring you some joy 🙂

Sagittarius energy is such a gift. It’s like pure light that illuminates the truth, and burns away all that doesn’t serve you. It’s this magnanimous energy that gives the Sagittarius person their drive and natural desire to share their gifts with others. Of course, this isn’t exclusive to Sagittarius people only – these qualities are there for anybody who chooses to tap into them.

If you have a lot of Sagittarius in your chart (or love someone who does), be mindful of signs of overwork and burnout. Sagittarians are passionate about their work and will go full force without hesitation, often at their own expense. Make sleep and downtime a priority. Sagittarius people are rarely homebodies, but it’s important to remember to spend quality time alone and with those you love!

This month’s wellness tips will appeal to the Sagittarius energy in all of us: our desire to move, explore, and travel; as well as the health of the hips, legs, and pelvis (the body parts ruled by Sag).

Yoga & Fitness for Sagittarius Season

Sagittarius energy craves adventure and the outdoors. Unpredictability and exploration are the key phrases here. Think hiking, nature walks, cross-country skiing, wall climbing, and outdoor sports. As a bonus, these activities also strengthen the legs, which Sagittarius rules.

Yoga asanas that strengthen and stretch the legs and hips will also be beneficial. These include:

  • Triangle
  • All low lunge variations
  • Pigeon
  • Warrior series

Of course, depending on where you live in the world, spending time outdoors may not be so straightforward. Where I live, the Winters can get really harsh, and sometimes it’s just not worth risking injury from ice slips or heavy snowfall.

If that’s the case, I highly recommend indoor walking workouts! Many people are surprised to hear that I love indoor walking workouts (especially since the majority of my fitness career as centered around Zumba and Bootcamp classes), but I LOVE them. Indoor walking workouts are low-impact, total body cardio routines, and I promise – it’s much more exciting than it sounds!

Here are two videos that I recommend, one is a 20 minute indoor walk, and the other is an 8 minute stretch. They feature Leslie Sansone and Jessica Smith, two of my favourite indoor walking instructors!

Crystals for Sagittarius Season

The Sagittarius that has overextended themselves can benefit from crystals that are soothing, feminine, and cool. Work with the following crystals to maintain balance and encourage deep rest: Amethyst, Selenite, and Sodalite.

If you’re looking to cultivate your inner Sagittarius, crystals that bring attract vigour and abundance are your allies. Boost your physical energy and mind power (the natural gifts of Sagittarius), with crystals such as Red Tiger’s Eye, Citrine, and Jade.

Essential Oils for Sagittarius Season

Sagittarius Season often has us all busy and constantly on the move. The two essential oils I recommend for this time of year are a staple in anybody’s essential oil toolkit: Tea Tree and Lavender.

Together, these two essential oils can help to boost immunity, soothe aches and pains, act as natural cleaners, and are very grounding and calming.

Safety Tip: I always recommend diluting essential oils to at least 2% before applying to the skin, however, Lavender can be applied neat (undiluted) to the skin safely, as long as it’s not done too often (i.e. daily). The same goes for Tea Tree oil. Examples would include applying Lavender directly to an insect bite, bee sting, or a bruise; and applying Tea Tree oil to acne or a wart.

Herbs for Sagittarius Season

As we approach the Winter Solstice and start to close out the dark side of the year to make way for the coming of the light, I recommend we return back to the basics – and back to our roots 🙂 The herb I recommend for this month is Dandelion root, which is a wonderful herb for general wellness. Dandelion root helps improve digestion, and has a gentle detoxifying effect on the body. Dandelion root is easily found in your health food store, and is often the main ingredient in all-natural coffee substitutes. It’s got such a smooth taste, and is naturally caffeine-free. My favourites are:

Flower Essences for Sagittarius Season

It’s been an intense year, and we’ve all experienced loss in one form or another. Star of Bethlehem provides support for times of grief, and is also indicated for feelings of shock, such as after receiving bad news or having had the rug pulled out from underneath you.

Star of Bethlehem can be taken on its own, or if you’re feeling really emotionally overwhelmed, as part of the Rescue Remedy blend. To learn more about Flower Essences and how to take them, check out my post: Flower Essences 101.

I this post brought you a sense of peace and joy. From the bottom of my heart, I wish you so much love and all of the blessings in the new year to come.

Bring on the light!

Namaste,
