Flower Essences for the Seven Deadly Sins

Flower Essences for the Seven Deadly Sins

I wanted to have some fun with Flower Essences, so I thought – what if I came up with one for each of the Seven Deadly Sins? Each of the seven deadly sins represents a negative emotion or behavior, and the Bach Flower Remedies can be used to address these imbalances. Of course, a more thorough workup and investigation into your emotions is always a good idea, but hopefully this post can give you a bit of quick inspo!

And now, may I present one Bach flower remedy for each of the 7 deadly sins:

Pride – Larch (Larix decidua): Larch is recommended for individuals who lack self-confidence and experience feelings of inferiority. It helps promote self-assurance and the ability to appreciate one’s own abilities, thus counteracting the excessive pride and arrogance that can arise from an overinflated sense of self-importance.

Greed – Chicory (Cichorium intybus): Chicory is beneficial for individuals who are possessive or overly focused on material possessions. It helps promote selflessness and generosity, allowing the individual to release their attachment to material objects and counteract the negative emotions associated with greed.

Lust – Crab Apple (Malus sylvestris): Crab Apple is recommended for individuals who experience obsessive thoughts or feelings, particularly those related to lust or sexual desires. This remedy helps to promote self-acceptance and a healthy sense of self-worth, allowing the individual to release these obsessive thoughts and find balance.

Envy – Holly (Ilex aquifolium): Holly is useful for individuals who experience jealousy, envy, or suspicion. This remedy helps to promote a sense of inner peace and harmony, allowing the individual to release negative emotions and promote forgiveness and understanding, counteracting the feelings of envy.

Gluttony – Cherry Plum (Prunus cerasifera): Cherry Plum is beneficial for individuals who struggle with self-control, particularly in regard to overindulgence or gluttony. This remedy helps to promote a sense of inner calm and balance, allowing the individual to resist temptations and maintain self-discipline.

Wrath – Impatiens (Impatiens glandulifera): Impatiens is recommended for individuals who experience impatience, irritability, or anger. This remedy helps to promote a sense of inner peace and relaxation, allowing the individual to release tension and promote greater harmony in relationships, counteracting the negative emotions associated with wrath.

Sloth – Hornbeam (Carpinus betulus): Hornbeam is useful for individuals who experience procrastination or a lack of motivation. This remedy helps to promote mental clarity and vitality, allowing the individual to overcome feelings of apathy and engage in productive activities.

It’s important to note that Bach Flower Remedies are not intended to replace professional medical advice, and should be used as a complement to traditional treatments. If you’re experiencing any of these emotional concerns, it’s recommended that you consult with a healthcare professional.
