It’s time for me to address the elephant in the room.
It’s been well over a year since I’ve written a brand new article/blog post. I haven’t sent out a newsletter in at least that much time, probably longer.
I’ve been very active on social media, though. Thank goodness for the advent of microblogging. Ergo, this post might seem a bit redundant if you’ve been following me regularly, so bear with me (If we’re not already hooked up on Insta, do ‘er up!)
The reason for my writer’s block
Divorce Total life upheaval My Saturn Return
Ummm . . .
After my ex and I separated, I went into survival mode. Luckily, my business had already established its sea legs, so I was able to concentrate the vast majority of my energy to picking up the pieces of the life I once knew, and recreate a new one.
I could not have done this alone. Know this: NOBODY DOES ANYTHING ALONE. There is no such thing as solitary success; all achievers have a team and a support system. Don’t have one? Get one. Or, wait until life kicks you in the ass and puts you on your knees, thereby forcing you to (finally) ask others for help and to accept the aid of those who’ve always been there for you . . . I wouldn’t recommend going about it that way, but it does work.
Aside from having the best family and friends anyone could ever ask for, I have an amazing business partner (Caroline Stewart of inspirED Me), a duplicatable system (my established training curriculum for my workshops), and a very strong social support network (including my amazing life coach, Carolyn Collin of ReDefine).
And of course, I have an amazing partner (and now fiance’), Tom, who was and is my best friend, and continues to be a lifeline and my strongest source of support. Thank you, thank you, thank you, I love you . . .
I won’t share the details of an almost ten-year marriage dissolving. I’ve made peace with it, and I want to respect the privacy of everyone involved. My ex and I have 2 sons together, and our priority has always been to keep them as happy and stable as possible. I like to believe we’re doing just that.
Happy, happy news!
My mantra right now is “I deserve the best, and the best is yet to come”. I have so many amazing things to look forward to . . . like the birth of my baby girl! Yes! Tom and I are expecting our baby (due date is December 3, 2017), and we couldn’t be happier. Believe it or not, she was 100% planned 😉
I was so freaking sick during this pregnancy. Even sicker than I was with my first two boys, and that’s saying something. I’m now in my third trimester, and feeling good, FINALLY.
What I do for money
I’m happy to share that I’ve managed to stay consistent with my work. I’m now a full-time Fitness/Yoga/Pilates Instructor, and I continue to teach 1-2 workshops per month. I also continue to take students for Private Reiki Training and have started opening up my schedule for Business Coaching (email me at firstname.lastname@example.org).
Work is still WORK, make no mistake about it, but I am very grateful to be able to make money doing what I’m doing. Poverty is not just a threat for single mothers, it’s a very real thing. I accept whatever contracts I can, and I also have a “Jill job” where I work a couple shifts a week to keep things consistent. I love my Jill job. Money is money. Yes, money is energy, blah, blah, blah, but guess what – no amount of meditating is going to pay your bills! DO WHAT YOU NEED TO DO.
A few weird things I did during my transition
- Got tattoos (A half sleeve and a forearm tattoo) – I love them!
- Dyed my hair blonde (sort of; bellyage). Have since darkened it.
- Cut my hair. I’m growing it out again.
- Subscribed to Cosmopolitan. What the eff?!! If anyone wants a bunch of Cosmo magazines, let me know.
Back to school!
Finally, I recently enrolled in Aromahead’s Aromatherapy Certification Program and am looking forward to adding Aromatherapy to my Wellness Education offerings. If you’ve been following me for a while, you’ll know that I have been a fan of essential oils for YEARS, and I’ve become super passionate about sharing how to SAFELY and EFFECTIVELY use essential oils to support your health and wellness.
I also just completed a course on Essential Oils and Children with West Coast Aromatherapy. Being pregnant (and having two kids), it’s become a huge priority for me to make sure I’m using essential oils responsibly. For a while, I actually stopped using them out of fear; but that’s obviously throwing the baby out with the bathwater. Now, I feel much more empowered in how I use them, and I’m on a mission to help you do the same!
(P.S. Once upon a time I was a doTERRA and a Young Living consultant, and I’ve long since cancelled both accounts. I’m not representing any brand of essential oils. I’m about Aromatherapy Education, pure and simple.)
What to expect from my biz moving forward
More group workshops! I’ll be teaching my fitness classes until the end of October, and my workshops until mid-November. I’ll be taking mat leave, but I’ll be back in the Spring. Click here to see my workshop schedule.
NEW workshops! The Moon Energy Workshop is coming up in September, and I’ve also collaborated with Authentically Healing You to offer a series of mini-workshops (including Crystal Healing 101 in October) and Moon Circles. I’m also offering Wellness Biz workshops based on the Fire Starter Sessions (I’m a certified facilitator now!), which you can host in your home/office/studio. And of course, I will be offering Aromatherapy and Essential Oils workshops in the very near future. Click here for public workshops. To book a Fire Starter Sessions or Aromatherapy workshop (your home/office/studio), email me at email@example.com.
Online courses! I am launching not one, but TWO new online courses over the next couple of months. One is my own, “Crystal Healing for Life”, and the other is a collaboration with Caroline of inspirED Me, which will be a Business Coaching Program for Wellness Entrepreneurs.
