Taurus (April 20 – May 20)
Taurus is an Earth sign ruled by the Planet Venus, and as such, is the sign of decadence, luxury, and steadfastness is mind and body.
Taurus people are dependable, reliable, and full of vigour; the energy of Spring is palpable in the Season of Taurus. When unbalanced, however, Taurus people have a tendency to overindulge and can overemphasize pleasure-seeking activities.
The Season of Taurus occurs in the height of Spring, and maintains the Aries quality of new beginnings and fresh starts. This is a beautiful time to reevaluate your personal and work routine – your “daily grind”.
The energy of Taurus will lend itself well to recreating a lifestyle that will prioritize self-care and fun, while still ensuring practicality, safety, and reliability.
When it comes to food, Taurus’ specialties are quality and taste – think anything YUMMY! This is an ideal time to explore Intuitive Eating and a HAES perspective, especially if you are new to these concepts.
Taurus rules the face and face organs (nose, eyes, facial bones, etc.), neck, and throat. If you’re prone to allergies during this time of the year, you’ll definitely feel the emphasis on the Taurus body parts!
Yoga & Fitness for Taurus Season
Taurus is symbolized by the Bull: Strength, power, and endurance. As the weather warms up, it’s an ideal time to start taking your workout outdoors – walking, running, outdoor bootcamp, outdoor yoga, and hitting the stairs!
Personally, I like to take my babies out on stroller walks or hikes. Sometimes I’ll incorporate a strength circuit while I walk around a lake or down a river trail; either way, I try to be active outdoors as much as possible.
Yoga poses that relieve tension in the neck and shoulders would help you tap into the Taurus energy as well. I love simple poses, like the Chest Expansion, Neck Rotations or Side Bends, and the Shoulder Stretch.
Crystals for Taurus Season
Rose Quartz – The perfect Taurus stone! Ruled by Venus, Rose Quartz resonates strongly with the loving, harmonious, and beautiful energy of Taurus.
Emerald – A great stone for manifestation and for boosting vitality, both of which are also essential aspects of Taurus energy. Blending Emerald with Taurus energy will add some extra oomph to your goals!
Bloodstone – Too much Taurus energy gotcha feelin’ stalled and stuck? Use the energy of Bloodstone to bring more vigour into your body and your mind.
Flower Essences for Taurus Season
Rock Water will give you a boost of Taurean-like willpower, drive, and determination, while also staving off perfectionism and self-criticism. A great essence to work with when you need a boost of momentum, especially if you’re rethinking your lifestyle and adopting new wellness routines.
Agrimony can help to release you from any tendencies to overindulge or “numb out” on addictive behaviours. If you’ve found yourself going overboard or if present circumstances have you running from reality, Agrimony can help you face your problems head on.
Herbs for Taurus Season
Dandelion – Dandelion Root can help you cultivate the strong, earthy qualities of Taurus energy, and is an all-around detoxifying and health-boosting herb. Dandelion Root is great for digestion, acts as a diuretic, can help alleviate bloating, and is full of antioxidants. A great herbal remedy any time of the year, really!
Motherwort – As a tincture or tea, Motherwort is a powerful herb for alleviating anxiety and stress. Motherwort can help to keep you grounded and connected, and can do wonders for your sleep. Taurus energy is strong and centered, and if you’re struggling in this department, Motherwort is for you!
Essential Oils for Taurus Season
Eucalyptus – With a strong emphasis on opening and clearing the respiratory system, Eucalyptus (all variations) can be particularly helpful especially if you tend to suffer from Springtime allergies. This is a great ingredient in inhalers and rollerballs, as well as muscle rubs, as it also helps to ease muscular tension.
Rose Otto and/or Ylang Ylang – To tap into Taurus’ love for beauty and pleasure, add Rose Otto to a rollerball blend for a beautiful, floral perfume. Rose Otto can be quite expensive and hard to find, so another alternative would be Ylang Ylang. Regardless of which one you choose, remember to only use a little (1-2 drops max!) as their floral fragrance is VERY HEAVY and HEADY, and can quickly make a perfume too overwhelming… Kind of like Taurus energy ?
