This is the fourth post in the Moon Energy Series.
When the moon is at it’s peak
Then your heart’s desire seek
– The Rede of the Wiccae
The Full Moon is a time of heightened energy, activity, and emotions. You can access the power of Full Moon energy for about a week: three days before the Full Moon, on the day, and three days after. This gives you a wide window within which to plan a personal ritual or a group gathering.
The Full Moon is a great time to formally put your intentions “out there”, whatever they are; there’s a very good chance that they will manifest for you, and quickly! However, as with everything, make sure that your heart is in the right place and that your intentions are for the highest good of all involved.
The Full Moon can also be a time of emotional upheaval and “lunacy” – a term derived from the fact that people tend to be more mentally unstable during the Full Moon. The Full Moon can heighten your emotions, both good or bad, and can potentially make you or others more sensitive as well. For more on the Full Moon’s effects on your mental and emotional state, read Moon Energy 101.
However, please don’t use the Full Moon (or any other seasonal phase) as carte blanche to go crazy on your tribe. Being aware of the energies of the Moon does not give you permission to be nasty, any more than knowing that you are moodier during certain phases of your own menstrual cycle gives you permission to be rude.
The purpose of working with the Moon (and nature in general) is so that you can be aware of what could potentially affect you, so that you can take the necessary steps to make sure that you remain in a state of balance.
Accessing the Divine Feminine is about empowerment, NOT wallowing in a state of victimhood.
The Full Moon is an ideal time for:
- Cleansing and charging your crystals
- Creating and activating a crystal grid
- Performing a Reiki healing for a deep injury (physical or emotional)
- Shamanic journeying
- Setting intentions and sending them out to the Universe
- Group Reiki or energy healing
- Guided meditation (with yourself or others)
As for physical activity, it depends on how you react to the Full Moon. Some people feel a surge of energy and therefore have more endurance; if this is the case, you might choose to try a new fitness class or literally go the extra mile during this week. However, if you find yourself overly tired, then obviously you’ll want to take it easy with some Restorative Yoga, etc.
The Full Moon is NOT an ideal time to:
- Deliver bad news
- Drink more alcohol than you usually do (if at all)
- Do drugs – do I have to say this? It is NEVER a good time to do drugs, no exceptions
- Go out of your way to expose yourself to negative people, situations, or places
Of course, in a perfect world, you would NEVER be exposed to any negativity; but in this reality, you will always have “difficult people” in your life. If you can avoid them during the Full Moon, great. If not, make sure to boost your spiritual and energy healing practices so that you’re not losing your head.
You can support yourself mentally and emotionally during the Full Moon by:
- Meditating more frequently
- Doing Reiki self-healing
- Accepting a Reiki or energy healing
- Wearing crystals for grounding and protection
- Drinking plenty of water
- Getting lots of sleep
- Eating well
The week of the Full Moon is an exciting and powerful time. Shift your awareness to all of the good things that can be generated within yourself and your environment, and the Full Moon will always be a happy time for you 🙂
